Admission Requirements
Applicants must meet the University's general graduate admission requirements:

  • A Bachelor's degree or equivalent from an accredited college or university. In the case of foreign students, an institution recognized in their own country as preparing students for further study at the graduate level, and submit a score of at least 550 on the TOEFL (or 213 on the computer-based version).

  • A minimum of a 3.0 GPA on the last 60 upper-division undergraduate credit hours.

  • In addition, it is recommended that applicants submit 1) three letters of recommendation 2) a written statement of purpose 3) and current curriculum vitae/ resume directly to the School of Public Health

Students with diverse backgrounds are encouraged to apply.

Program Description
The Online Master of Public Health requires completion of at least 45 semester hours of approved course work with a minimum of a ‘B’ (3.0) average. Core Public Health courses must be passed with a grade of ‘B’ or higher. All work applicable to the degree must be completed within six years of first enrollment in the master’s program.

Required for all MPH students, unless student has at least 3 years of practical experience working in a public health setting.  The student must apply for this exemption; upon approval the following may be selected as a capstone course:        
PHC 6977         Masters Research Project

Currently, students may choose to use their elective credits to obtain one of two certificates, either Environmental and Occupational Health or Health Promotion and Disease Prevention.  This is not a requirement, but an option for those who would like to have a specialized focus with the MPH online degree.

Graduate Certificates Fully Online 
Graduate Certificates Environmental and Occupational Health, Health Promotion and Disease Prevention, and Epidemology are available fully online.  A separate application is required for these programs; please visit the link below for the application.

The application requires a $30 fee and you must submit your official transcripts to the Graduate Admissions Office.  Once complete it will be forwarded to the department for a decision and you will be notified via mail.
