In the traditional classroom format, students are expected to attend class twice weekly at the scheduled location and time.
On the other hand, courses in hybrid format will meet only once a week, or once every two weeks in the classroom, depending on the course. They will actively participate online during the other portion of the course, as per the Professor’s syllabus. Essentially, this affords the student an opportunity to participate for half of the course time in the classroom, and spend the remainder working from home.
In order to successfully participate in a hybrid course, a student must only have a general understanding of computers and the internet. While they give a great deal of flexibility, online and hybrid courses require strong self-discipline and good time-management skills.
Each hybrid course will be conducted differently; however, students should expect to dedicate several hours each week to working online in addition to attending class during the regularly scheduled sessions.
