Summer 2008 Login Information (Posted on 4.1.2008)
Please be aware that if you are taking an online or hybrid course during Spring 2008, you will not have access until the first day of class. The first day of class for the Summer A and C semesters is May 5, 2008. The first day of class for the Summer B semester is June 25, 2008.
Your course username is your Panther ID number.
Your password to login to your course is not the same password as your Panther ID password. The default password to login to your course will be your full date of birth, mmddyyyy (ex: 07151985 for July 15th, 1985).
Please make sure you are aware of your Panther ID before the semester begins, so you do not have any trouble logging in. If you are unsure what you Panther ID is please click here to look it up.

CE6 Maintenance on 1/5/08 from 1:00am until 5:00am (Posted on 1.4.2008)
The CE6 system will be down Saturday January 5th from 1:00am until 5:00am while we complete some final maintenance items before the semester starts. Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions.
Important Announcement Regarding End of Semester and System Maintenance and Back up Schedules (Posted on 12.20.2007)
Faculty and students will have access to their WebCT 4.1 Fall 2007 courses through December 21, 2007 at 12:30 a.m. All Fall 2007 courses will then be backed up and archived.
Blacboard CE6
FIU Online and University Technology Services will be performing maintenance and updates to the Blackboard CE6 server after grades are due. The Blackboard CE6 server will be unavailable beginning December 22, 2007, at 12:30 a.m. and will be back in service December 26, 2007.
Students will be able to access their courses on January 7, 2008.
Closed for Thanksgiving 11/22 - 11/23 (Posted on 11.20.2007)
The FIU Online offices will be closed to observe the Thanksgiving holiday on Thursday 11/22 and Friday 11/23. This also means that our associates will not be answering emails or live chat for these two days. We will be we opening for business as usual on Saturday 11/24 (emails and live chat).

On Friday April 27th there will be no advising chat, no SAS staff in the lobby, technical chat will only be from 8am-5pm, and then only email support from 5pm-12am.

WebCT Maintenance Saturday, February 3rd (Posted on 1.31.2007)
WebCT will be down on Saturday, 2/3 from 1:30 am to about 3:00 am in order to perform routine scheduled maintenance on the web server. You will not be able to login or access any of your WebCT cources during this time period.

FIU Online Holiday Support (Posted on 11.3.2006)
December 22nd-24th and December 29th-31st we will only offer Email support. Live Chat support and Phone support will not be offered on those dates.
On November 24th Technical chat will be from 8am-12am and Advising chat will be from 10am-6pm.
On December 24th and December 31st we will only offer Email support until 8pm.
WebCT Maintenance Saturday, September 30th (Posted on 9.29.2006)
WebCT will be down on Saturday, 9/30 from 3:30 am to about 5:00 am in order to perform maintenance on the server.
FIU E-mail Unavailable Sunday, October 1st (Posted on 9.29.2006)
In order to improve the ability to recover FIU's e-mail system in the event of a hurricane or other disaster and to reduce power consumption in the UTS Data Center, on October 1, 2006 UTS will be moving the Mirapoint e-mail servers (FIU Webmail) to an offsite location in downtown Miami. This means that FIU Webmail e-mail services ( including online@fiu.edu and 4online@fiu.edu ) will be unavailable on Sunday, October 1st, between 6:00 a.m. to midnight.
Therefore, if you need to contact FIU Online Student Academic Services on this day please use the Live Chat which can be found on the left hand side of every page.

WebCT Downtime (Posted on 9.12.2006)
Dear Students:
This is a notification as to what you can expect once you login after the downtime period which ends on 09/13/2006. In regaining access to your WebCT course(s), you will come across the following changes. Please read them carefully.

Login Instructions:
In order to regain access to your WebCT course(s) you will need to log in using your date of birth (MMDDYYYY) as the standard password; unfortunately, all the previous passwords were reset during the downtime period.

Discussion Forum Postings (August 29th - September 11th 10:00pm):
There will be a process of compiling all the discussion forum posting from the timeline above, please be patient and rest assured that everything will be available to you over the course of the coming weeks. During this time, although they may not be temporarily visible to you, please note that your professors will have access to view all the discussion forum postings.

Course Mail (August 29th - September 11th 10:00pm):
Unlike the discussion forum postings, the course mail message postings during the above mentioned time frame will not be made available to you. Again, please note however, that your professors will in fact, be provided with the compilation of all the course mail messages that were sent to and from professors from August 29 th on until September 11th 10:00pm.

Course Content:
All the course content that was added to your course on or after the 29 th may not be visible to you at this time. We will work diligently to get all the relevant course material back online as soon as possible.

Quizzes/Assignments (August 29th - September 11th 10:00pm):
All assessment grades that were submitted during the above referenced time frame have been saved and are visible to your professors. Your scores will be made available to you as soon as possible.
We understand that this will cause an inconvenience for you, but please note that we would not undertake such measures unless it was 100% necessary. We are hoping to minimize errors in the long term and want to ensure a smooth and successful Fall 2006 term.

Hurricane Ernesto

The FIU Emergency Management Group is monitoring Hurricane Ernesto, which may affect our area in the coming hours.
The university and some services such as technical and academic support may be limited depending on the damage caused by the hurricane. FIU Online servers and systems should not be affected by the hurricane and all fully online, hybrid and web-assisted course will remain available for students and faculty to access.
Please be aware that depending on the damage caused by this storm, our Student Academic Support services (Technical Support and Academic Advising) may be disrupted.

XD Sections For Out-of-State/International Students (Posted on 8.28.2006)
It is with great regret that we inform you that all special rate online courses (XD sections) for Out-of-State/International students will not be offered this Fall 2006 semester. Out-of-State/International students interested in continuing their course work online will need to enroll in the regular online course sections (ex: "RVC") and will be assessed the current university Out-of-State tuition rate plus the $299.00 online fee for each online/hybrid course they enroll in.

The FIU Online, Women, Culture and Economic Development online course, has been recognized as a 2006 WebCT Exemplary Course. We join a select group of faculty and course designers from the around the world whose courses have earned the Exemplary Course designation. In 2006, the six selected courses represent institutions in Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Massachusetts, Minnesota, and Ottawa, Canada.
The Women, Culture and Economic Development exemplary course will be showcased at IMPACT 2006, the 8th Annual WebCT User Conference, July 10-14, 2006, in Chicago.
