Program Overview
The online Post Professional Master of Science in Occupational Therapy is designed for occupational therapists who have been NBCOT certified at the baccalaureate level. All courses are taught completely online and there are no on-campus requirements. The Post Professional Master of Science in Occupational Therapy consists of 30 credits including the master's project. A maximum of six credits of graduate course work may be transferred from other institutions.

The curriculum has two core components. The practice core is designed to further develop the student's skills in utilizing evidence based practice and theory in occupational therapy practice settings. The research core is designed to develop the student's clinical research and writing skills, culminating in the master's project.

Admission Requirements
To be fully admitted to the Post Professional online master degree program students must:

  • Hold a baccalaureate degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited institution and achieved initial NBCOT Certification in Occupational Therapy.

  • Have a minimum of 3.0 GPA average based on a 4.0 scale in upper division courses of the bachelor's degree.

  • Have completed an undergraduate statistics course.

  • Apply and be admitted to the FIU Graduate School.

  • Apply and be admitted to the Occupational Therapy Post Professional Master Degree Program.

  • International students are accepted subject to space and fiscal limitations. Students must have a baccalaureate degree or equivalent in occupational therapy from an institution recognized in their own country as preparing students for graduate level study; academic eligibility for further study in their own country and have achieved initial NBCOT Certification in occupational therapy at the baccalaureate level. International graduate student applicants whose native language is not English are required to submit a score for the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or for the International English Language Testing System (IELTS). A total score of 80 on the TOEFL or 6.3 overall on the IELTS is required.


Application Procedures
Occupational therapists may apply for admission for any term. Applicants must submit separate applications to each of the following two departments (total of 2 packets).
