NBC Learn

NBC Learn is the education arm of NBC News. NBC Learn allows instructors to embed content to enrich online courses by introducing current events or presenting historical content in a way that brings subjects to life for your students.

NBC Learn offers faculty who teach online courses a complimentary curriculum alignment service to help identify resources that best match with any class. Simply email your curricular materials to curriculum@nbcuni.com and within a week, you’ll receive a link with summaries of videos relevant to the course you are teaching.

With NBC Learn users have access to:

  • Over 22,000 primary source videos, documents, letters and images
  • Current events videos updated daily
  • Universal Newsreels from 1930s–1960s
  • Primary source documents from 1600s–present
  • Downloadable and embeddable videos that contain full transcripts, bibliographical citations, and closed captioning
  • Collections housed under 32 categories that include resources for subjects in the Sciences, Arts & Humanities, Health, Business, and many others
  • Personalized playlists for research

Any resource that you can find in NBC Learn can be embedded in course items, discussion boards, blogs, wikis, exam questions and other areas within Canvas or can be saved to a playlist within Canvas.

To enable access to NBC Learn within your Canvas course, go to the ‘Navigation’ tab of your course’s ‘Settings’ page. Find ‘Browse NBC Learn’ in the bottom list and drag it to the top list, clicking ‘Save’ to confirm adding ‘Browse NBC Learn’ to your Course Navigation menu.
