Virtual Orientation

Fully Online students are required to complete the Virtual Orientation and an Advising Module course prior to contacting your assigned Academic Advisor. An Orientation (ORN) hold will appear on your student account as a reminder to complete these steps before enrolling in classes. A few topics that your orientation will cover are:

  • Transfer Credits (possible syllabus request)
  • Financial Assistance
  • Academic Planning
  • Registering for Classes

Please check your FIU email account regularly as you will be informed via email when the Advising Module course has been made available to you. Once you receive the email, you will automatically be enrolled in the course within Canvas. Please use your FIU username (i.e. Roary001) and password to log into Canvas. You must complete all assignments within each of the modules.

You must contact your assigned academic advisor upon completion of your orientation courses to remove your hold. Log into your Panther Success Network via your MyFIU portal to directly contact your assigned advisor.

For general assistance, please contact your Enrollment Team at 305-348-3125 (Press 2, then 3) or email onlineprograms@fiu.edu.

NOTE: If you are taking face to face courses on campus, you are still required to register to attend one of the face to face orientations held at MMC or BBC.
